The Exiles Prepare to Return to Jerusalem

1:5 Then the leaders ¹  of Judah and Benjamin, along with the priests and the Levites – all those whose mind God had stirred – got ready ²  to go up in order to build the temple of the Lord in Jerusalem. ³ 

Ezra 5:5

5:5 But God was watching over ⁴  the elders of Judah, and they were not stopped ⁵  until a report could be dispatched ⁶  to Darius and a letter could be sent back concerning this.

Ezra 5:16

5:16 Then this Sheshbazzar went and laid the foundations of the temple of God in Jerusalem. From that time to the present moment ⁷  it has been in the process of being rebuilt, although it is not yet finished.’

6:6 “Now Tattenai governor of Trans-Euphrates, Shethar Bozenai, and their colleagues, the officials of Trans-Euphrates – all of you stay far away from there!

Ezra 8:18

8:18 Due to the fact that the good hand of our God was on us, they brought us a skilled man, from the descendants of Mahli the son of Levi son of Israel. This man was Sherebiah, ⁸  who was accompanied by his sons and brothers, ⁹  18 men,

Ezra 9:4

9:4 Everyone who held the words of the God of Israel in awe ¹⁰  gathered around me because of the unfaithful acts of the people of the exile. ¹¹  Devastated, I continued to sit there until the evening offering.

Ezra 10:5

10:5 So Ezra got up and made the leading priests and Levites and all Israel take an oath to carry out this plan. ¹²  And they all took a solemn oath.

Ezra 10:10

10:10 Then Ezra the priest stood up and said to them, “You have behaved in an unfaithful manner by taking foreign wives! This has contributed to the guilt of Israel.
